Moon Pork, the Beast-Formed
Moon Pork is Iona’s son by the primal beast the Tusked Boar. The sign of Moon Pork is assigned to oratai of a melancholy disposition. For centuries, within his own chronotope, Moon Pork fought Stervyaga, the child-stealing caterpillar. In their last battle, Pork overcame her by strength and cunning and slit Stervyaga’s belly. From it flew Zoi, a frail and beautiful butterfly. Pork fell in love with her. They spent one day together; that night the butterfly died. Pork wished to die of grief as well, but on Zoi’s face, around her eyes and mouth, he noticed a dozen translucent young. Pork gathered them into a mitten, fed them, and brought them up. From the mitten grew eleven mighty heroes and their little sister Olena. From her descended the oratay line of the Olenichi.
